Stuart Hamilton - Stuart is a New Mexico-based artist whose work explores the landscapes,
architecture, colors, and distinctive character of the American Southwest. Working
primarily in acrylic and encaustic, he creates both intimate and large-scale paintings that
capture a strong sense of place through layered textures, luminous light, and thoughtful
composition.
Hamilton studied art and architecture at Kansas State University, earning a Bachelor of
Interior Architecture with a minor in Fine Art. He began his professional career in interior
architecture and space planning, collaborating with major organizations throughout the
Midwest and Southwest. During the 1990s, he served as a Change Communication
Specialist for Herman Miller, traveling across North America to help Fortune 500
companies understand how workplace design shapes organizational culture,
collaboration, and performance.
After relocating to Northern New Mexico in 2004, Hamilton returned to his lifelong
passion for painting. Inspired by the region's dramatic landscapes, historic architecture,
and vibrant palette, his work reflects both an architect's eye for structure and an artist's
sensitivity to atmosphere. His paintings invite viewers to experience the enduring
beauty, quiet energy, and visual richness of Northern New Mexico through a
contemporary and deeply personal perspective.
