Rick Hatfield - was born and raised in the Texas panhandle. After visiting New Mexico throughout his childhood, he moved to Zuni in 2004. He has lived in New Mexico since, and currently lives in Placitas. He is a woodcarver, musician, and furniture maker, After attaining an MEd. in Educational Psychology, from Texas State University, he spent most of his career as a mental health provider, in public schools, non-profit agencies, and private practice.  He taught psychology and play therapy classes at the University of Texas and Austin Community College. His interest in the natural world, folk and indigenous art, and spirituality has lead to his exploration of wood carving, painting, bead work and mosaics. His current work is, in many ways, the compilation of all these interests. Rick’s philosophy is that life is way too important to take seriously. He seeks to bring “playfulness” and whimsy to his work.

Rick has exhibited with: San Juan College Gallery, Feat of Clay Gallery, Corrales Fine Art Gallery, NM Cancer Center/Gallery with a Cause, Art Mozaik Gallery, Placitas Studio Tour, and

Jemez Fine Art Gallery.
