Rachel Reed Dushoff - Corrales has been my home for nine years now.  I am a native Arizonan, and moved 29 times before arriving here, most recently from North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina by way of Los Angeles, Boston, and many places off the beaten path.  I trained as an Actress at Emerson College, and later received a BA in Voice, at Arizona State which gave my early career choices a creative shape.  I enjoyed performing for many years.  Later I worked for E! Entertainment Television, in Marketing, had a stint at the AZ Renaissance Faire and later a decade as a Real Estate Broker while running another family business, all of which left me little time to create art.  In my current life I have found creativity in everything from my closets to baking bread.

Black and White Photography drew me in early.  The darkroom was my harbor and my love affair with the camera took off from there.  When I travel I want to hold on to everything I see; the places and the people, the community and the simple celebrations of human existence whether they be shutters on a home, coffee in a café or a captured gesture unique to a culture not my own.  Finding my focus is a never-ending game that challenges me each time I snap the shutter.

By contrast, my love of painting dot mandalas arrived only recently.  It is a meditative process, and in this upside-down world, it brings me a sense of order.  How we embellish our homes and our persons can be different palettes entirely.  I’m fascinated by the way people respond to different colors, and by extension the art they choose to bring into their lives.
